On Tuesday, November 27th, MCA New York gathered for a membership meeting at the LaGuardia Marriott. After some time to network and gather, members were able to hear from a couple of special guests in attendance.
Timothy Bowe, MCA President and President of ABCO Peerless Sprinkler Corp., welcomed all members before introducing the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation. Started by two FDNY members in 1975, the foundation is dedicated to the advancement of burn care, research, prevention, education, and the proper treatment of burns. FDNY Lieutenant Bill Leahy, President of the Foundation, and John Case, the Burn Outreach & Disaster Coordinator, discussed the important work taking place at the organization and the ways in which these donations will help sustain their mission. Since the MCA first began fundraising efforts 18 years ago, our industry has now raised over $780,000 dollars for the burn center foundation!
Following the donation presentation to the Burn Center Foundation, the MCA New York was pleased to welcome Michael Brandt, MCAA President, and President and CEO of Ohio-based Smith & Oby Company, a full-service mechanical and plumbing contracting firm. Mr. Brandt gave members an insight into the many initiatives currently underway at the national office, as well as a preview of all that will be offered at the 2019 MCAA Convention in Arizona.
Following Mr. Brandt’s remarks, MCA Executive Vice President Tony Saporito asked Michael to help in picking this year’s convention raffle winner. Artie Klansky of Ashlar Mechanical was selected as the lucky winner of a five-night trip for two to the MCAA Convention to be held March 3-7, 2019 at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge!
Wrapping up the meeting, Mr. Saporito noted that the MCA looks forward to seeing everyone at the Annual Holiday Luncheon on December 11th!
