Welding
The Greater New York Welding Chapter (GNYWC) is a member of the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB) and serves the metropolitan New York area.
The National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB) is a subsidiary of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA). NCPWB was established to keep contractors informed about welding/brazing technology, allow for the transfer of welder/brazer certifications, and to simplify the welding/brazing qualification practices.

The purposes of the Greater New York Welding Chapter (GNYWC) are as follows:
- To provide its member contractors with access to the latest methods and information on welding specification procedures for safe and effective welding.
- To create a force of welders uniformly trained and qualified following the uniform WPSs, thereby permitting the interchange of such welders between NCPWB members without unnecessary individual duplication of such qualification tests.
- To assist contractors in providing the owner with quality welding at reduced costs through the use of certified welding.
- To promote, develop the use of and generally maintain the quality of welding in the piping industry.
